The story so far

DeSigns is a family run business set up in 1983 by Oliver Browne.  Oliver worked in many of the pharmaceutical plants in Cork throughout his career and recognised the need for a local supplier of engraved labels and pipeline markers.  He established Douglas Engraving & Design Services, converted his garage to a workshop and began engraving!

Over the next few years, the company performed well and moved to a larger premises to the Marina Commercial Park in 1989, now employing three full-time staff members.  Further investment was made into new software and machinery; a CNC router and vinyl plotters.  This now meant that a wider range of signs and services could be manufactured on site.

With the company now located in the Marina supplying a new extensive range of signs, labels and vehicle graphics, a decision was made to create a new trade name for the business; DeSigns.  This incorporated the ‘D’ and ‘E’ from Douglas Engraving adding the tag ‘Signs’.  A new logo and branding was created to reflect this next chapter.

2000 – Once again space had become an issue and the company moved from the Marina to its current and convenient location in Ballycurreen.   As business continued to grow, our customers now came from all sectors within Cork and beyond; including Healthcare, Commercial, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Engineering and of course still serving the Pharmaceutical and Biologics facilities.

The company is now run by siblings Lorna Browne and Kieran Browne, both of whom have grown up in the business!  With over 50 years combined experience, they can offer expert advice and solutions for all signage and labelling enquiries.
